Beach House Fireplace Ideas

Let’s get straight into it! Below we have a list of the best ideas for a beach house fireplace. Whether you are looking to replace the fireplace, or update the one you currently have, we have ideas to suit every room and budget.

Add A Black Fireplace

If you are adding a fireplace or changing out your current one, opt for a black fireplace. There are so many black fireplaces on the market that you are sure to find one that suits your style.

We love modern black electric fireplaces with realistic light wooden logs in the hearth.

Not only will these go with any colors on your walls, but will match any decor changes you make in the future. You can also opt for a wood-burning fireplace and add your own logs to the center, or coals, whichever you prefer.

A black fireplace will work with any color surround and mantel too, although for the perfect beach house fireplace, add a large white surround or a light wooden mantel.

The large surround will add a sense of grandeur to the fireplace and the wooden mantel will give the room a more relaxed beach house vibe. Whichever you choose, we are sure you will love it!

And as black fireplaces are so popular, you are sure to find one within your budget too. If not, you can always look online for second-hand fireplaces too.

You can often find one at an affordable price that has a traditional style too that will contrast the modern furniture in your beach house.

Add A Wooden Mantel

We touched on this earlier, but wooden mantels just scream beach house. We love driftwood-style mantels that can be added on top of any fireplace to create a beach house style to the fireplace.

If you can, go for a thick piece of wood. It will look rustic, just like other pieces in your beach house style home, but it is also practical.

You can use the larger mantel to add some beach house style decor (think light blue and white frames and candles) and any photo frames for artwork you might want to display.

Keep the mantle fairly clutter-free, opting for just a few key pieces of decor or trinkets from your travels. This keeps the focus on the fireplace under the mantel and creates a minimalist style that we see in many beach houses.

Paint The Wall White

No matter the color of your fireplace, painting the wall behind it white will transform your room into a beach house! White or pale colors are often used in beach houses to give them a light and airy feel, so why not do it in your home?

Even if your room doesn’t get much natural light, a white wall brightens up your room and makes it feel like there is much more light in there than there is!

It doesn’t need to be pure white either. An off-white, like a milk bottle white, or a pale cream will do the same job. A softer white like this can make the room feel warmer than a harsh bright white too.

If you have a black fireplace too, the white wall will offer a wonderful contrast, making the fireplace a focal point of your room.

You don’t need to paint the entire room white either. You might choose to paint just one wall or two walls white and leave the others in a light and neutral color.

This can create the illusion of more space too, making the room feel like a large open-plan space in a beach house!

Expose The Brickwork

Finally, you can expose the brickwork on the wall surrounding your fireplace. In many homes, this will be the brickwork on the chimney breast. Doing so will add a rustic feel to your home that we often see in beach houses.

This can be quite a task to undertake depending on the paint or wallpaper on your walls. However, doing so does allow you to blend the traditional and modern together.

To keep the room feeling light and airy, you can paint the brickwork white or another neutral color. Make sure you have the correct paint to do so and set aside plenty of time, you might need a few layers to cover the color of the bricks!

If you want to expose your brickwork, but aren’t sure how to do it, it is worth consulting a professional. They will be able to offer you a quote on the work and even do it for you.

This will save you time in the long run, just be sure to ensure that you have the budget to pay someone to expose the brickwork for you.
